Silver Rocks Restaurant, Lapta

We had a lovely evening the other night at this restaurant in Lapta, Northern Cyprus (June 2010). If you are driving from Alsancak, Silver Rocks (formerly Rita on the rocks and Shirley Valentines) is on the the other side of the village and is clearly signposted from the main road on the right.

The restaurant is right on the seafront in a beautiful location and on arrival we were greeted warmly by our waiter and given a choice of tables. There is a large outdoor circular bar with a pool a dozen or so tables on several levels. We sat next to the rocks on the lower level, our table was private but we were still able to grab a waiters attention immediately.

The menu was varied although similar to many North Cyprus restaurants, and there were lots of different fish and meat options. If one of your party happens to be vegetarian I noticed there was several dishes for them to choose from, including a vegetable tower, (served with side dishes of vegetables).

My partner went for the mixed kebab (kebab) and I had the fish kebab. Both were extremely good and came with salad, rice and vegetables, both tasted really fresh and were perfectly cooked. We shared a dessert , a wonderful banana chocolate crepe and were given complimentary brandy and coffees.

In total the bill came to about £30 (also including 2 beers and a soft drink). Which I think is pretty good, considering.

One thing I liked about the restaurant was the way the staff were friendly and attentive but never over-bearing. In fact I am struggling to say anything negative abut the Silver Rocks restaurant whatsoever, but if I did it would be that if you are one of those people who get bitten get a table just away from the sea front.

Definitely recommended, and we will be back again. I can imagine it gets very busy at the weekend so booking may be a good idea. We visited on a Tuesday night and it was fairly busy.

Their telephone number is 03928218922 and I found their website here

Note: They did not know we were reviewing the restaurant (as always) and we received no special treatment.

SilverRocks is a fantastic place – they have a lovely circular swimming pool with a shallow section for the kids – and they let you use if for free! Keep up the good work SilverRocks :)

We are just back from a week in North Cyprus, and Silver Rocks Restaurant easily got our top vote. An excellent evening meal in the most lovely setting watching the sun go down.
