Cyprus Marathon 2010

In: South Side

5 Feb 2010

Although Lincguide is mainly a place to find stuff out about Northern Cyprus, occasionally we see something happening in the south that is worthy of some attention.

Have you ever run a marathon? If you think the usual 26miles is a bit too far how about a half marathon? Not too far over the horizon is an event in the historic city of Paphos.

The Cyprus Marathon hosts over 500 runners and hundreds of cheering spectators each year, giving runners from around all over the world the opportunity to run under Cyprus winter sun and have fun. All participants will receive a souvenir T-shirt and a finisher’s medal. Trophies will be awarded in 50 different age group categories.  American runner Mark Werner won the 2009 Cyprus Marathon in a time 2:56:26.

The entertainment activity programme will include a dancing group who will perform both Greek / Cypriot folk dance and invite participants and spectators to join in.

There are three main events the Cyprus Marathon, Half Marathon & 10 km and they all take place on Sunday 14th March 2010

It is a great chance to see life on the other side of this beautiful island and raise money for good causes in the process.
