ONE TO WATCH Chateau St Hilarion (Cabernet Shiraz)
Chateau St Hilarion is just a baby when it comes to making wine
(established 2004) but their wine just gets better and better every
year. Produced in a state-of-the-art winery using equipment imported
from the Italians and assisted by experts from the UK and South Africa.
This Northern Cyprus wine is exported to the UK and is most definitely
one to try.
Maratheftiko
This a popular grape in the area, despite being harder to grow than
many others . Wines made from this grape can be similar in flavour to a
Cabernet. There is a very good version of this red wine made by the
large KEO wine producer.
Saint Fotios
A dry red wine from the Kolios Family made from grapes grown on
mountain peaks near the village of Statos Agios Fotios, Paphos.
Aes Ambelis Rose
Aes Ambelis Winery Ltd first started their vineyard in the late eighties with a strong, clear vision to produce quality wines. Their vineyards are located on the slopes of Kalo Chorio Orinis district, 28 km southwest of Nicosia. This rosé wine won the Best Wine Grand Gold Medal award at the 2nd Cyprus National Wine Competition 2007.
