More Moving to Northern Cyprus Questions Answered
Here Brian Aspin of Aspin Freight answers more of your questions
on the practicalities of moving to Northern Cyprus.
How does my stuff get to Cyprus and how long does it take?
We send over containers from Liverpool to Famagusta (Gazimagusa)
every week by sea, with a voyage time of 20 days.
What happens if something goes wrong on the way?
Would my home insurance cover it?
No, your home insurance would not cover the export.
We cannot arrange insurance ourselves
We always recommend a broker called
A - B Insurance they can be contacted on telephone number 01473 785322.
Are there things you would advise not to pack/ take?
Clients can send over to Northern Cyprus virtually any items they wish.
Obviously you can’t send over illegal substances or guns etc.
Do i have to pay import duty etc?
There are no duties or taxes on used personal effects.
There is duty payable on any new & unused effects.
Our Agents in Famagusta are always willing to offer help & advice on this.
What about importing cars? i hear it is very expensive to buy over there?
Many clients request rates for exporting motor vehicles to Northern Cyprus,
we drive the vehicles into the back of containers and secure them. They are quite safe.
Customs clear them at Famagusta & handover to clients at the port.
Is there a way to reduce costs by sharing a container or similar?
We use either 20 foot or 40 foot containers to ship from the UK to Famagusta.
If a client has a small shipment of effects, from a few cartons up to approx 15 cubic metres,
we would ship over as a part load & only charge for the volume taken up in the container.
For any volumes over and above 15 cubic metres, it does warrant using a sole use 20 foot container.
