Lapidary Museum

Housed in this small building are artifacts of many centuries and many cultures. It is believed that the building itself once stood in the courtyard of the St. Sophia Cathedral which now is the Selimeye Mosque. Today the building stands just east of there.
The museum is a two story structure with ornate Gothic features. A window from the Lusignan Palace greets visitors as they enter the museum. It is classic Gothic style which is seen in many cathedrals. When the palace was destroyed by the British in 1901 this window was moved from Sarayonu Square. Most of the displays in the museum are works of stone and marble from the British era. Most of the pieces are of tombs and carvings of marble.

The museum was renovated in 2002.
